Let’s toast to…MAKING IT TO OPRAH

Okay, So let’s get ALL the fun stuff out of the way first:

#1. Yes! I wore THIGH HIGH boots: Because dammit, ANYTIME I can actually WEAR THEM, I’m going to have them on. So POW!

#2. Yes! My dress was short: Because dammit, IF it was long, you couldn’t get the full effect of the boots. So POW! POW!

*3. Yes! I had on underwear: Because dammit, I have A Mama. And A Daddy. AND…It’s only right, IF there’s a slight chance you’re ever going to meet Oprah, you should have drawers on. So POW! POW! POW!

So now that that’s out of the way…let me say this:

I was 15 years old when I first heard the name, “Oprah Winfrey” and I PROMISE you that I told myself that one day, I’d get to her show and meet her. “The how” I wasn’t sure of, but I BELIEVED that one day it’ll happen.

Fast forward to the age of 21. Fresh off from filming a documentary about 7 strangers living in N.Y. city, (The Real World) I remember hearing, “The Oprah Winfrey Show wants to interview you guys and we’re working out the details.” Man, I still don’t know WHAT those details were, but somehow that took 22 years to work out. Ha!

On Sunday, December 21st 2014, “The Oprah Winfrey Network” will air a reunion special with me and some of my roommates that I met way back in 1992. And what was even crazier about it, we taped the reunion back in October, 2014 where it was the first time any of us have been back at the loft (565 Broadway in NYC) in over 20 years!

I haven’t seen the episode yet, but I’ll give you a few spoilers BEFORE it airs:

#1. I didn’t meet Oprah; It’s cool though: It wasn’t the “appointed time;” Stay tuned though…Because ya’ll know how CRAZY my life is. Ha!

#2. EVERYBODY didn’t make the trip.

#3. Somebody cried.

#4. Four cast members are married. Only 2 have children though.

#5. Every cast member  is on some form of social media except for Julie.

So, there you have it! That’s all I can give for now, but know that… I’ll be doing LIVE tweets @TheHappyHourwHB while it’s airing AND I’ll be posting more AFTER it airs.

Also, I want EVERYONE to know that…I feel beyond BLESSED to be able to be doing WHAT I LOVE after all of these years. I tell GOD, “THANK YOU” EVERY SINGLE DAY! I STILL can’t believe that’s me in a picture at 21!

To watch the “Oprah: Where Are They Now” episode that we appeared in go “Let’s toast to…Being a Little Different.”
